Foundations [CLIPP164] by Erremita

The artist formerly known as Slender Dan, slides into Spring (in the Southern Hemisphere) with a lithe EP under new guise Erremita. Titled “Foundations”, the Bloomington residing artist moves his brand of house vibes across 5 new tracks, with an affinity for soulful and atmospheric undercurrents (in addition to more idiosyncratic, exploratory aural realms). Orbiting close to the notable lo-impact house influences of his contemporaries, Foundations reflects an omnivorous appetite for style and genre, ever-aiming to bridge the void between old and nu-school. There is an emotional maximalism at the centre of the collection, from the slow crunch of “By Moonlight” to the Baby Jesus transit ramble on title track “Foundations”, on the gentle nudge of “Body Language” and none more noticeable than on “I Just Wanna Dance (VIP)” closing the lid on this set of vintage, bruising house music.
