Clipp.art is thrilled to present modular musician Maria Veretennikova with a debut mini-album via her CPSL solo project. Also known as a member of Moscow-based duo Sputniki, under the CPSL moniker Veretennikova makes compelling techno, ambient and acid laced IDM, encased in glassy electro leaning breakbeat grooves - an aesthetic evident in both her mesmerizing live performances and captured in the 6 tracks on parade here.
From the whirlpool BOC rush of “Intro”, the gnarly 303 bends of “Broken Dreams”, or cyborg-from-future pacing of “Cold Beats”, sledge hammer beats give way to looping organic breaks, overflowing with funk drops, glitchy cut & reverse tempos. “Solid Slider” comes at you at like the angles on an Olympic dive champions muscular shoulders, underlined by a perspiring acid-line that carves an even sharper path through tundra thick jungle textures. The digi-funk of Red Room bubbles and perculates under a haunting dronal surface. Album closer & title track “Dance is the...” is a personal clipp.art fave - all swirling pads, chunky kicks, swung out hats and squeaky synths, delirious blips and amen breaks, highlighted by a modular multi-octave jumping lead line and culminating in the minimal tick-tock of Siberian ultra synthetic percussion. This is hypnotic music created by an artist operating only to the click of their own clock. CPSL has crafted an EP of uncut joy for fans of squelchy modular driven live breakbeat techno.
